If possible, it’s always good to start preparing for the PTE with plenty of time to study before your test. However, we know that sometimes life is unpredictable and other responsibilities might get in the way.
Just get on with it
The first tip might be a bit obvious, but there are some people who might need to hear it. If you have little time to prepare for the PTE, just get started! There’s no time to waste! Procrastination can get us in many areas of our lives, especially when studying for a test we’re apprehensive about.
Don’t start too soon, though
It’s great to give yourself enough time to prepare, but if your exam is a long way away, don’t start studying PTE techniques right away. You can follow some of our PTE content on our instagram, but leave the actual studies for 2 or 3 months before the date of the exam. You might forget things if you start too early.
Make sure you have plenty of available time
If you don’t have a long period to study for the PTE, at least give yourself enough hours of study each day. It’s important to study every day for the PTE, and if you only have a few weeks to do so, you will need to cram pretty hard in order to learn as much as you can about the PTE Test.
Focus on the most important questions
As we discussed previously on this blog, not all questions on PTE hold the same weight when it comes to scores. You should always focus on the most important questions, and even more so, if you don’t have a lot of time to prepare for your exam. Check out which questions you should skip here.
Have a good and realistic study plan
A study plan is always necessary in order to organize your studies in an efficient way. And if you’re running against the clock, your study plan should not only be efficient, but also realistic. A study plan for 12 weeks of study can’t be the same as a 2-week study plan. We can help you with that.
Assess how much you know about the PTE
Because the PTE is much more about learning strategies for the exam than actually having perfect English, the amount of study you will have to do depends on your level of knowledge about the test itself a lot more than if your English is good or not. How well do you know the structure of PTE?
Seek the help of a PTE specialist as soon as you can
We always talk about this in our blog, because it is the best way to plan for the PTE Academic. But if you have little time to prepare, seeking help from an expert will ensure that you have the best study plan that is suited for your situation, considering your level of PTE knowledge, level of English and time.
