As some of you may know, the PTE Academic is completely corrected by an AI system. This means that the test won’t be corrected by a human examiner, but by computer algorithms. This is why it’s more important to know how to beat the PTE Algorithm, than actually having perfect English.
Don’t panic, it isn’t as scary as it sounds!

Get to know the scoring system

Focus on time management
Time management is extremely important when you’re taking the PTE. Once you know which questions are important, you can give yourself more time to work on them and also not waste too much energy on the least important ones. Practice time management when studying for the PTE.
Learn what the computer expects from you
Sometimes we can get too caught up on what we think the goal of the question is. We should be focusing on what is important for the computer correcting the exam. For example, in Speaking fluency will be more important than the actual content, so you shouldn’t correct yourself.
Pay attention to the position of your mic
A lot of people don’t think about this, but the position of your mic can impact your speaking score as well. Keeping your mic not too close and not too far from your mouth will help the algorithm understand you better. Also, speaking more outwardly will make your pronunciation clearer for the AI.
Take an Official PTE Mock Test
One way of understanding if you’re answering questions in accordance with the algorithm is to take an Official Pearson Mock Test. The non-official ones are good tools for you to practice and to analyse your answers, but if you want an accurate result, you should buy an Official PTE Mock Test.
