In the last days of PTE preparation, should I focus on revision or learning?

If you’re getting closer and closer to exam day, you might be asking yourself this question: In the last days of PTE preparation, should I focus on revision or learning? And our answer is: it depends!

The importance of having specialised assistance

The best way of making sure you’re organising your studies properly is to look for help from a PTE expert. Having individual specialised assistance on your preparation will take the weight of planning off of you and leave you room to focus only on your studies, so you can achieve your best score.

Take a Mock Test two weeks before

Whether you’re doing an Official or Unofficial Mock Test, we recommend that you take it two weeks prior to the actual PTE test. This way you will have plenty of time to understand where your difficulties are and to work on them. It’s also essential to have your tutor analyse your errors with you!

The last week before your PTE Academic Test

When you’re seven days away from your exam, you still have some time to learn new strategies and study some more vocabulary. But the more you approach exam day the more you should be starting to go over the things you’ve already studied and not focusing on learning new content.

Is revision really necessary?

If you’re feeling very confident in your studies and you’re thinking that you don’t need to revise for the PTE, think again. Even if you think you’ve mastered all the questions in the exam, it’s always a good idea to go over each of them and make sure that you’re not forgetting anything.

Keep calm!

The last few days before the exam can be quite stressful, but stress won’t help you (quite the opposite actually). Revision is a time to consolidate what you’ve already learned and not to obsessively worry about the things you haven’t studied. You’re getting close to the exam, focus on quality!

Good practices for the day before the exam.

Do a quick revision on the structure of the exam. How many questions there are, how long you can spend on each of them, which ones are more important and so on. However, be careful not to exhaust yourself. The most important thing the day before exam day is to rest and sleep well.

Warm up for the exam.

You can also practice a few (just a few!) Speaking questions such as Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence to get you warmed up for the actual Speaking part. Try to arrive at the exam centre earlier and speak out loud, so when you start the exam you’re already in English-speaking mode.

Remember: you’re almost done!

Finally, don’t forget these are the last days of PTE preparation and after you pass the test you won’t have to worry about it anymore! If you’ve studied for a while, revised and followed the study plan to the best of your abilities, you shouldn’t have any problems achieving your desired score!
