If you’re preparing for the PTE Academic, you know that the right preparation can make all the difference. Here are some valuable tricks to help you excel on the test:
Repeat Sentence
When it comes to “Repeat Sentence” in the Speaking module, remember: it’s not a memory exercise but a fluency exercise. The key is to repeat part of the sentence naturally and fluently. Aim to repeat about 50% of the sentence, starting from the beginning or end, and avoid pauses and hesitations. If you remember less than 50%, don’t worry! Just repeat what you remember as best as you can.
Fill in the Blanks
“Fill in the Blanks” exercises might seem challenging, but an effective strategy can make a big difference. There are three types of fill-in-the-blanks questions on the PTE, but here’s a general tip: when filling in blanks, don’t focus only on what comes before the blank space. Context from after the blank can also provide valuable clues. You can know more about that trick on our Secrets of PTE course.
Write from Dictation – tricks for PTE Academic
“Write from Dictation” is one of the most important questions in the exam and can significantly impact both your writing and listening scores. The idea is simple: you will hear a sentence and need to type exactly what was said.
Here’s a trick that can make your life easier: you gain points for correct words but don’t lose points for incorrect words. This means that if you’re unsure about the spelling or whether a term is singular or plural, you can write the word twice to cover all possibilities. For example, if you’re unsure whether it’s “finance” or “finances,” write both. However, you should only use this technique for two to three words in the sentence. Don’t repeat every word in the sentence.
Describe Image
For the “Describe Image” question, the most important thing is not which template you use, but how you use it. Use the template to prepare, but make sure your answers sound natural. Choose keywords that fit well and ensure your response doesn’t just sound like a template with keywords inserted. Use the preparation time to decide which keywords to use and where to place them.
These strategies and tricks are designed to help you maximize your score on the PTE Academic without unnecessary stress. Keep practicing, stay confident, and use these techniques to your advantage. If you need personalized help, be sure to check out our courses for more comprehensive preparation.
